What To Do When You Feel Like Quitting
I read a book 3 years ago that opined that the very things that make us human are limitations - pain, obstacles, age, weakness etc. These qualities are not found in the people tagged, 'Super Humans'. That's why you see the likes of Superman and Captain America doing impossible things, moving through barriers (and making it look easy). The thing is that it is not just uneasy, most of their stunts are impossible - I hate using the word Impossible but in this case it fits perfectly! The only reason why these Super Beings seem untouchable and all powerful - that is assuming they are real - is because they are not humans (at least not 100%).
No matter how successful you are in life - business, relationships, academics, spiritual life (I dare add) etc, it does not give you immunity from humanity. We all have days when we don't feel like doing anything, or when we feel like just quitting!
It's okay to feel like this (downcast and uninspired) sometimes; after all, we are humans. But what is not okay is that you let this feeling make you actually quit - now this is not acceptable. Feeling it is normal, doing it is worse than abnormal.
When that feeling comes (and it will), try some of these:
1. Why did you start the - project, programme, job etc
Ask yourself why you started the stuff. What was the Vision or Mission behind the stuff? Have you actualised it? Do you think quitting will make the vision a reality or get the job done?
2. Be Comfortable with 'Uncomfortable'
3. Try Persistence
4. Share the Vision or Goal(s)
5. Expect Challenges and Acknowledge Them
6. Be Proud:
2. Be Comfortable with 'Uncomfortable'
Life can be uncomfortable sometimes. It's just life. As sweet as food is, it can cause discomfort when taken in the wrong combination (whatever that means!). Sometimes, there are no reasonable reasons for some discomforts but it's just there. And don't you think that it's only the poor that gets uncomfortable, the rich also do - once in a while. It's part of being bloody human. Once you know this, the uncomfortable times can be turned to comfortable - because it wont exist anymore.
3. Try Persistence
Keep doing it. Keep pushing. Believe me, no hard stuff survives persistence; they always give way eventually.
4. Share the Vision or Goal(s)
When you feel like giving up, share your goals with friends. That you are not the only one who knows about it will keep you fired up. Now you are not the only one keeping tabs on your progress, others are. And you don't want to appear like a fool, do you?
5. Expect Challenges and Acknowledge Them
Yes yes, challenges will come. Acknowledge them and seek solution from appropriate source.
6. Be Proud:
Yeah, give yourself a thumbs up for even trying. Many ain't doing a thing! Relax and be happy. Take a break and once more go back to number one - Why you started.
Very inspirational nice one keep it up
