A Little Knowledge Goes A Long Way, But in Addition to Knowledge, Get Understanding

"In all thy getting, get understanding."
Knowledge is light. Information is like the power switch of knowledge and when this switch is turned on, light floods the space. What does light do, or what is the significance of light? Light terminates darkness. Wherever light shows up, darkness gives way.

Ignorance is an opposite of knowledge, so if knowledge is light, then ignorance is darkness. Anyone who operates in ignorance gropes in darkness. Anyone who gropes never gets to destination (Now this is sounding too church-y right? Okay let's put it this way, anyone who gropes in darkness does note achieve his goals - that is, if he's got a set goal in the first place!).

Information is not equaled or synonymous to knowledge as always perceived. Although most times the two terms are used interchangeably, there's a major difference between them. Information is without - outside;
while knowledge is within - inside.

Information is what is conveyed or represented by a particular arrangement or sequence of things; while knowledge is facts, information, and skills acquired through experience or education; the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject. What this means is that when information is internalised, it becomes knowledge.

So does it mean that once we seek information, and then internalise it to get knowledge, we reach perfection? Well I used to think that knowledge is all we need to rule in our world, or become masters in our fields; but this is not so. If knowledge is all that is needed, then our world should have become a better place now - because as we progress in years, humans are becoming more knowledgeable. The youths of these days are bubbling with knowledge - too much knowledge (the advent of the internet has doubled this effect). Yet, this has not reduced crime, mortality rate or brought a better standard of living. As a matter of fact, the negatives are on the increase! Why?

Knowing a thing does not change you until you know how to apply what you know. So knowledge (i.e. internalised information) must be applied. Reading all the books on swimming and knowing - through the books - all the techniques about effective swimming without entering a pool to try out what you know will not make you better that another who knows nothing about swimming. The only edge that the 'knowledgeable' has over the other is - just the knowledge. But in the end, you are judged by what you bring forth - your result (manifestation).

Nobody cares about what you carry inside - until you begin to produce result. And for you to use what you know to produce result, you must understand it.
