Hey, stop there and turn!
There
are two sides to everything. The good or bad; right or wrong; front or back; up
or down; positive or negative; action or inaction etc. This planet is filled
with so many contrast of the opposites and I believe (and so do many reasonable
minds) that the sole reason for placing contrasting elements side by side is to
show the better of the two – based on the viewers’ standpoint.
Right
from the beginning when the first humans decided that they wanted more
knowledge by disobeying their Creator outright, humans began to deal with
contrasts. They were faced with the both sides of everything and are required
to choose the best – knowing that they would either enjoy or endure the
consequence of their choice.
Sometimes,
the consequence of (or what lies in) both ways is known or is visible. Like for
example you automatically know that when you hold a coin and the head is faced
to you, of course you know that beneath lies the tail. You also know that when
you step your bare foot on a spike, you get injured. There are so many cases
like that. Some we know instinctively, others we have learnt.
However,
there are times when you do not know what lies at the other side. There are
times when you do not know which path would lead you to the desired location.
There are times when confusion holds you bound that you do not know which way
to take or turn. In this case, the only solution is to just move. Plunge into
the direction that faces you.
Now,
you might say that this is a terrible advice. What if you end up in the wrong
place? Yes, yes. Ending up in the wrong place is very possible; so as ending up
in the right place. How will you know it’s the wrong place if you do not move
at all? This is the good news; if you end up in the wrong place, then there’s
only one way remaining – the right place. If you are in the wrong place right
now, just turn the opposite direction, it leads to the right place. I know that
it’s not as easy as it sounds but it does not make it less true.
Most
people give up when they hit rock bottom. They forget that when they hit that
low, there would be only one other way to move – and that is upward. You get
caught up in the bad and you write yourself off as a lost soul. But if you try
to do the opposite of what you’ve always done, you will get a different result.
It may not happen immediately (in fact, it rarely happens immediately), but
surely, the change will be evident. A wise man once said that there are only
two ways to tackle a problem or situation:
either do something or do nothing about
it.
You
have already tried nothing. I think it’s time to try something.
