HOW TO TRANSFORM DREAMS TO REALITY – BIRTHING THE REAL YOU
The failures of the past generation are the
opportunity of the present. In this planet, almost nothing is fixed or absolute
(except principles and laws). The earth is a dynamic sphere – always changing
and evolving. What worked in the past is now seen as archaic and most
importantly, what didn’t work in those years now bear a herald of
possibilities. Things that used to be considered science fiction are now our
reality.
We live in a world of so many
possibilities. In the past, the place of birth and who gave you life determines
how far you go in life – your placement and your voice. However, things have
changed. You can be anything you desire – it doesn’t matter what colour you are
or where you are from. What matters is what you desire and your willingness to
pay the price – to become.
There are so many books out there, and even
articles all over the internet that tells or teaches you how to birth your
desires or dreams (because until those desires are birthed to take tangible
form, they are just wishes. And who wish
epp?!). I’m probably going to repeat what they have said, but in a straight
and simpler way. Some of them (if not all) will look bleeding obvious, but
remember, knowledge is not enough until it is applied – the right way.
Here are few To Do’s to birth the real you:
1.
DESIRE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE: The only
way you can count or make a difference is to first desire it. Desire always
precedes becoming. Don’t just sit around and live your life through boring
routines. You must understand that you are here for a reason. You didn’t just
happen – there was a plan for you to arrive here, to get something done. And
until you do, the job will remain undone until someone else takes your place
and kick you out of history. No sane person wants that!
2.
DISCOVER YOURSELF: Believe me, it’s a
whole lot easier when your work stems from your inert ability. Every known
motivational teacher screams it: discover your gifts, talents, inert abilities.
This has been so repeatedly said that it’s almost losing relevance. But the
truth is that it won’t. I had wanted to be many things while growing up; a
doctor, dentist, lab scientist, then computer scientist, but when I discovered
that I could write, I don’t think I want to do anything else. Your inert
ability does not require much thought and it clears all confusion. It’s just
like a red apple sitting in the midst of green ones – it stands out.
3. TRAIN IN THE AREA OF YOUR
ABILITY: Gone are the days when you just study
anything – because you want a college degree. If you are passionate about
numbers, please it is wrong for you to waste your time studying anything that
does not relate to numbers – except it is for additional knowledge or fun.
Please what is a person who is passionate about fashion doing in medical school
– except of course you want to design their lab coats or, like earlier said,
for additional knowledge (no knowledge is a waste, if it can be applied
relevantly and rightly). As seducing as being Jack Of All Trade is, you will still be Master Of Nothing! The essence of self discovery is for
specialisation. When you hone your ability by training it, it sets you on the
path of specialisation. It is more practical to take a sick child to a
paediatrician than a general practitioner. Why? Because the former is
specialised in dealing with kids. Don’t
aim to be everything; aim to stand
out at something.
4. CONNECT
WITH PEOPLE OF LIKE MINDS: I’m sure you’ve heard that a drop of water
cannot make an ocean or a tree make a forest. Iron can only be sharpened by
iron – not wood or plastic! It is only people travelling in the same direction
as you that can help you get to destination. Any other traveller is just a
distraction. This is not to encourage rudeness or being brash to people who
have opposite opinion or different calling
from you. This means that (while you appear or are friendly to all) you must
consciously seek out people who do the same thing as you, to help you find
visibility – we are not cavemen who live in isolation. Let this sink in deeply,
in this world we live in today, Isolation is deadly.
5.
HAVE A MENTOR: Every great man (or
woman) has someone who points the way or gives instruction, cautions and
rebukes. To build a career or start life without a mentor is like going on a
great journey without a map. A mentor acts like your map – he points out the
right direction to your destination. Your mentor must be someone who has
already gotten to where you want to get to. He is not someone you like but
someone who has what you need. Your mentor is not your friend; he is your
instructor. A good mentor will teach you how he got to where he is, and also
warn you to avoid the mistakes he made. Remember, your aim should be to surpass
your mentor; once you get to this level, get another mentor.
