MAY WE GET WHAT WE WANT, MAY WE GET WHAT WE NEED, BUT MAY WE NEVER GET WHAT WE DESERVE!
If everyone were to get what they deserved, what would you get? Most people seek and pray to get what they need or want, but how many sincerely ask for what they deserve? Yet, though you forget to ask for it, or pray for it, in this life, most times you get what you deserve and not what you want or need.
The difference
between those who excel and those who don’t is simple. Some say that the successful know something
that the unsuccessful don’t. Another set assert that it is in the application
of what is known that counts, not just in the knowing. Both are correct.
A most cherished
mentor once said that many suffer unduly on this planet because they do not
know (or fail to apply) the laws that govern the planet. There are laws here -
laws that function with or without your knowledge or approval. For example, your
ignorance of the existence of the law of gravity does not stop whatever that
you throw up to come crashing down. Therefore, it is needful that you know
these laws and principles and obey them in order to avoid unnecessary pain and
disappointment.
One important
law that most people know of but fail to apply is the law of sowing and reaping
– give and receive, in the same measure. Farmers know that when they plant
oranges, they do not reap mangoes. You cannot plant something and expect to
reap something else. Everything produces after its kind. This does not only
apply to plants, but it is a law that controls everything we do. Whatever thou giveth, thou shall receive.
Make no mistake, this law works like hell!
You sit around
complaining about how corrupt the leaders are, yet you pilfer – that’s the
fancy word used for it. The conductor of the bus you boarded forgot to ask for
the fare and you think it’s your lucky day. The young boy asks you for money,
you have it but you think he does not deserve it. What of your housemaid, oh
she’s a second class citizen! It’s okay to cheat in exams just to make good grades
– yet you wonder why you cannot get a good job with the certificate. You are
holier than everyone; always the first to cast the stone. Wait there, who made
you the judge over anyone?
My point? Stop
blaming others for your predicament. Look within; you may just be getting what
you deserve. Right from the beginning, it has always been the same circle – you
reap what you sow, simple. Let’s stop talking about the bad economy for a sec.
Look inwards. Don’t make living here difficult for you and the rest of us. Learn
these principles and live by them. It is this simple – Do to others what you want them
to do to you. Give and receive.
Do the right
thing even when nobody is watching. Show kindness to that person that cannot
repay you. In a world doomed with a dense cloud of dishonesty, dare to always
be honest. And don’t forget that a seed sown yields more than is planted – it
multiples.
