Payability vs Affordability

Image
There is time for everything under the sun. But a lot of people have ignored this principle and this is why they struggle with money. For you to die a wealthy man, you must be willing to live the beginning of your life as many people wouldn't, so that you can live the rest of your life as many people can't. The goal is to be rich and not to look rich. Unfortunately, a lot of people prefer the other way round. They spend the money they don't have to impress the people that don't care about them. This shouldn't be you. Don't allow your expenses to drag your income, rather let your income drag your expenses. What this means is that you first increase your income before your spending. NOTE: At all times, your income must be more than your expenses. There are certain things that you pay for right now that you haven't grown up to. The fact that you can pay for them doesn't mean that you can afford them. This is the difference between payability a...

Living vs Existing

Image
Do you know that there's a  huge  difference between  living  and  just  existing ? Everyone that is born into this planet will have a space in the  earth's  history book. This space records that you existed on this planet at a certain time. That's all. But when it comes to living, your works, while you exist, are recorded on marble. This marble is the hearts of men that will live generations after you. Unfortunately, a great percentage of the human race are just existing and not living. When you ask most young males what (and where) they want to be in the future, most already have default answers. It is what they refer to as the perfect plan - that is, if all things are equal. Unfortunately, all things are never equal. Their responses usually go thus: I will have my masters at 23 (or 25). I will get a good job in a bank or oil company (the course studied is not even put into consideration). I will own 3 cars and have a sizable amount in ...

Recognize When You’re Repeating a Bad Habit

Image
We've all got weaknesses. Fortunately, those weaknesses usually are not due to lack of ability; more often, they’re the result of bad habits. When you’re sitting in your office with a daunting presentation to prepare, and you keep checking your inbox and returning calls instead, it isn’t necessarily because you’re bad at prioritizing. It might be that you’re playing out a deeply habitual, practiced response to anxiety, inadequacy, or fear. The key to changing these kinds of habits is to identify the nature of the moments that provoke the ineffective response. Pay attention to the time of day, the location, your mood, and your physiological state. If you can pinpoint the circumstances that cause you to act in ways that lead to bad results, you’ve shrunk the size of your problem. Change seems daunting when you think it requires constant vigilance. But it’s usually about handling a few minutes per day better than you have in the past. (Harvard Business Review)

Who You Are Makes A Difference - Helice Bridges

Image
A teacher in New York decided to honor each of her seniors in high school by telling them the difference they each made. Using a process developed by Helice Bridges of Del Mar, California, she called each student to the front of the class, one at a time. First she told them how the student made a difference to her and the class. Then she presented each of them with a blue ribbon imprinted with gold letters which read, "Who I Am Makes a Difference." Afterwards the teacher decided to do a class project to see what kind of impact recognition would have on a community. She gave each of the students three more ribbons and instructed them to go out and spread this acknowledgment ceremony. Then they were to follow up on the results, see who honored whom and report back to the class in about a week One of the boys in the class went to a junior executive in a nearby company and honored him for helping him with his career planning. He gave him a blue ribbon and put it on his sh...

Legacy vs Inheritance

Image
In this part of the world, inheritance is taken so seriously that it often leads to strife or total destruction of families of the decedent. These days, most youths (especially from wealthy descents) depend on their prospective inheritance and thus aspire to be nothing. Their belief would be, why labour when the result for it (labour) is already given free of charge? Inheritance is the passing of title or ownership of physical properties (and even debts) to another (mostly family members) by a person upon death. Most reasonable people love the idea of leaving a good inheritance for loved ones but is that all you leave behind? Would you like to be remembered like Steve Jobs or Nelson Mandela? Both were great men and did great things while they walked this earth. The former was the co-founder of Apple Inc. while the latter was the former president of South Africa, an activist and philanthropist. Both left inheritance for the people they left behind, but something was different be...

Little Tips About Living Healthy

Image
It's funny how people run a crazy cycle that destroy their lives. First, they spend all their time and energy pursuing money and ignoring their health. Then later in life - after getting money - they spend the remainder of their lives trying to cure themselves with the money; until they die. Pay attention to your health by: - Watching what you eat (more vegetables and fruits incorporated into diets extends life); - Taking enough rest and sleep after a day's job (being a workaholic has it's allure, but it is share foolishness when you do not know when your body and soul needs rest. Moreover, overworking the body does not produce more result. A well rested body and brain rejuvenates itself and gets ready to produce at maximum capacity. And let's not forget that you'll be extending your life also.); - keeping your body always hydrated - not with wine, but water. Health is wealth - never forget this. If you still have doubts, visit a millionaire that lives...
