Sitting Idly and eating has its allures and consequence!

Image
Harvest is only possible when seed has been planted. You can only expect to get returns when you have traded something or made investments. So in essence, it can be said that action begets results - fruit. This is clear. But do you also know that inaction, not planting a seed also begets result? Oh yes. Either action or inaction is seed planting. The former yields fruits while the later yield weed. This is how serious life has become! You are free to do whatever your heart so desire, but you must also be ready for the consequence of your action and (or) inaction.

Being Candid...

Image
Do you have a great urge to do something great, but feel your qualification (learning and experience) is not good enough? Do you feel overwhelmed by what you want to deliver to your world but have the feeling that you are not ready to be of service? I have these advises for you: 1. You must expect great things of yourself before you can do them. 2. Nobody knows it all and perfection (if there is actually anything like that) comes from trying something, consistently.

A Little Knowledge Goes A Long Way, But in Addition to Knowledge, Get Understanding

Image
"In all thy getting, get understanding." Knowledge is light. Information is like the power switch of knowledge and when this switch is turned on, light floods the space. What does light do, or what is the significance of light? Light terminates darkness. Wherever light shows up, darkness gives way. Ignorance is an opposite of knowledge, so if knowledge is light, then ignorance is darkness. Anyone who operates in ignorance gropes in darkness. Anyone who gropes never gets to destination (Now this is sounding too church-y right? Okay let's put it this way, anyone who gropes in darkness does note achieve his goals - that is, if he's got a set goal in the first place!).

How To Overcome The Loss of Flow in Writing

Image
I hear some self acclaimed writers say that writing is like a second nature to them and when they start, they never wanna stop! Naturally, I scoff at these brutes, but within me I feel like I'll never be as good as them.  Has this ever happened to you? A few minutes after you start writing, you pause to reread what you've written. You adjust something here, polish something there, delete a sentence. Suddenly, you find it hard to start writing again. You've lost the flow.

Urgent vs Important

Image
"The tyranny of the Urgent" Just this morning, a friend asked me a sensitive question which went thus: Between earning and saving, which is easier to do? It looks like an easy question but think again. Which is easier to you? Me? I find it easier to make money than to save. Unfortunately, many youngsters are in this category. We think that it's better to work and earn money; saving can wait. Who needs to save anyway when you earn regularly from your labour? Seriously? If you have ever asked this rhetoric, you need your psyche checked!

Help!!! Tech Will Ruin Us!

Image
Very early Thursday morning a friend sent me an invitation via email. The e-card was very colourful and attractive -  creative. I was excited about the event he was inviting me to - it was his birthday party. I'm not usually a party freak but this pal of mine is one person that I can pause anything (not literal!) to attend  his invite. I didn't really read what was on the card - I just took note of the Title (Birthday Bash - hahaa) and Date, finish!

Why What You Fear May Not Be Real

Image
Researchers Watson and Raynor wanted to test the idea that fear could be acquired through classical conditioning. Their subject was Little Albert, an eleven-month-old son of a female employee at the clinic. The child's mother knew nothing about the experiment. Watson and Raynor presented Albert with a white laboratory rat while sounding a loud noise. Little Albert soon associated the loud noise with the white rat and was conditioned to fear the rat. This fear was then generalised to other fluffy white objects such a Santa's beard and a sealskin coat.
