Very early Thursday morning a friend sent me an invitation via email. The e-card was very colourful and attractive -  creative. I was excited about the event he was inviting me to - it was his birthday party. I'm not usually a party freak but this pal of mine is one person that I can pause anything (not literal!) to attend  his invite. I didn't really read what was on the card - I just took note of the Title (Birthday Bash - hahaa) and Date, finish!

Researchers Watson and Raynor wanted to test the idea that fear could be acquired through classical conditioning. Their subject was Little Albert, an eleven-month-old son of a female employee at the clinic. The child's mother knew nothing about the experiment. Watson and Raynor presented Albert with a white laboratory rat while sounding a loud noise. Little Albert soon associated the loud noise with the white rat and was conditioned to fear the rat. This fear was then generalised to other fluffy white objects such a Santa's beard and a sealskin coat.

As a fiction writer, I get really irked when after putting in much effort in a manuscript, I find out that a movie (I hadn't seen prior to the writing of my story) has almost the same story line as mine. I feel dissed and the once upon a time best story - which I was very proud of - becomes another waste of time. This unfortunate mishap continued for quite sometime and I was fast losing the interest to put down the things - always - playing in my imagination (After all, there are dozens who are seeing the exact same thing I'm seeing - or even better!)

I read a book 3 years ago that opined that the very things that make us human are limitations - pain, obstacles, age, weakness etc. These qualities are not found in the people tagged, 'Super Humans'. That's why you see the likes of Superman  and Captain America  doing impossible things, moving through barriers (and making it look easy). The thing is that it is not just uneasy, most of their stunts are impossible - I hate using the word Impossible  but in this case it fits perfectly! The only reason why these Super Beings  seem untouchable and all powerful - that is assuming they are real - is because they are not humans (at least not 100%).

"All animals are equal but some are more equal than others..." Remember this quote from Animal Farm? The book was a rocker. Very touchy and made a lot of sense, but that's not where I'm going. What makes some animals - in this case humans - more equal than others? Guess where I'm going? Yeah - superiority syndrome.

Poor description is boring and annoying. It consumes your time and frustrates you - imagine what it will do to your readers! But when description's done right, it's like being Merlin - performing magic. You transport your readers from reality into the imaginary world you have created with your pen - and they are not even aware that they are reading description. With your choice of words, you make them feel, think and also act exactly as it is in your mind.

He was a good Christian boy - everyone thought so, even he. People imagined that there could be a traffic of angels round about him - it was believed that more angels would be assigned to such an holy Christian boy! His future shone brighter than the sun! Harmless as a dove and quiet like a mute was Sola Michael but...
